In my headcannon, Twylight really collected the magic into the crystals to increase her power to slay Opaline; but got tempt, only for her darker self Midnight Sparkle to come. Hence her sealing. And Rainbow got lucky ones frozen; seeing the Gen 5 ones need their guidance to heal the worlds. And they return.
