I want to thank everyone for tuning last night for my Picarto. This is one of the two sketches I did during last night’s stream. It is from my Equestria dreamscape and it shows Petina and Carousel doing a Rein Dance. This is a two pony variant of the dance unlike the single pony version that Carousel was practicing one evening in our cottage outside of Ponyville. >>1094443
 
The dance originally had connections to old pre-unification earth pony wedding and fertility rituals. For weddings the mare and the stallion at the end of the ceremony would be joined by reins that were connected to bridles they were wearing. The reins represented physical joining of the couple in marriage and linking of their families in this affair.
 
Nowadays the custom has fallen out of favor for weddings although it is still practiced by some couples on Hearts and Hooves Day. Although usually in private. Leave it to Petina to develop a new take on the custom.
