Original Description:
lonelyruleroftheunderworld asked: Dr. Rhyme, my twins have been spitting up more than usual. They’re only three weeks old. Is this normal?
Completely normal. You see, foals’ lower esophageal sphincter (the valve between the esophagus and stomach that keeps stuff down) doesn’t fully mature until about 12 months. For the first 4 months or so, expect a LOT of spitting up. To keep it to a minimum, though, try feeding them several times a day, but only a little bit each time, and remember to burp them after each meal.
