Noon had already arrived, to the detriment and chagrin of various organic specimens in this planet that really didn’t like the very hot sunrays warming up the ground and anyone on it, but it was normal, it was most likely the hottest part of the day, and most ponies preferred to be comfy at home instead of waging a losing battle against that giant fiery celestial ball in the sky.
Having said that, some didn’t have much opportunity anyways, and they were forced to go out in this ‘intense’ climate for any reason, either to go buy groceries, or because their work shift covered these hours, and most of them were mildly annoyed but acquainted at this situation. In this generalization, there was a certain red robot pony with some gray highlights working diligently. Thankfully, his soft-yet-durable outer layer didn’t absorb heat, and as such he wasn’t really affected by the warmth emitted from the Sun towards Equestria, with love from Princess Celestia.
This particular robot pony, going with the name of Trackhead, was silently walking through a dirt road in the middle of a forest, in order to complete his job as a workhorse carrying goods and wagons from point A to point B, and occasionally point C. In retrospect, ‘walking’ was a bit of a stretch, since, despite the robopony was definitely in movement, he wasn’t exactly using his legs per se as a walking pony would; you see, this little adorable Trackhead had the fascinating (And awfully helpful) ability of utilizing his front hooves, and the wheel on his flanks, to transform from ‘pony mode’ to ‘tank mode’, essentially becoming a mini ‘inverted halftrack’ and making his work way way easier, since he just needed to point towards where he wanted to go instead of actually moving his legs front and back to do so. In a sense he could keep driving while doing other things, like a real tank that was set to advance forward in a straight line.
His tracks made almost no kind of noise as they went through the dirt road, the black/dark gray treads quickly closing the distance between him and his goal at a respectable speed despite having caterpillar-like tank tracks as locomotion. At a certain point he had accidentally squished a friendly cockroach under them, but thankfully the cockroach was fine and well, the robopone apologizing profusely and continuing on it’s travel, happy of his job and taking a glance behind him to make sure that his cargo was locked tightly onto his tail, not wanting the wagon to suddenly detach and go wander somewhere else.
He was a simple yet highly-advanced robot pone, a technological marvel one could even say, with his Magikon reactor powering him through the day, and his saw/axe like hairdo ready to down some bush or tree just in case the path was blocked. His speed of around 90 km/h indicating that most likely he’d arrive to Point B with free hours even, especially because, aside from the squashed roach that forced him to stop, there hadn’t been any obstacle or distraction that had slowed him down, the day being overall uneventful for him as he listened to music on his head (Robohoers things, don’t ask) trying to escape boringness. He could very well reach around 140km/h unimpeded, but both the curvy nature of his pathway and the fact he was carrying cargo meant that he was a bit restricted to not yeet the wagon a few meters away or crash in a tree, though he was surprisingly good at drifting in curvy tracks. Even then, he more often than not completed his objective in a third of the time a regular group of ponies would take, making him wholly efficient at his task.
Trackhead held tight the grappling end of the wagon with his tail, making sure his carriage didn’t get damaged during the journey, meanwhile he scanned the area in front of him to determine anything dangerous on the road, including things that would force him to search another way like a lot of logs, a barricade or a derelict wagon (Even then, using his tools he could pretty much pierce his way through it). Thankfully, aside from some small pebbles, puddles and a few weeds popping from the dirt track, there was nothing noteworthy. His thoughts then went back to his job, as he noticed that after the curve he was about to take, there’d be a mostly straight road until his destination. Deciding to pass time playing a videogame, he was about to initialize his system for a quick match before he suddenly caught a blue blur speeding in front of him.
With a screech, the tank pony stopped, remembering the incident with the bug from earlier and not wanting to commit the same mistake, despite no ill effects happening. The weight from the front treads being useful to force the back wheels to a halt, as the wagon, abiding faithfully to Newton’s First Law, or the principle of conservation of momentum, decided to bump the robopony hard on his robotic butt, not having any brakes in it to stop like Trackhead had just done, or any operator to operate those nonexistent brakes anyways.
The offending party that has just caused the robopony to stop dead in his tracks was a particularly cute-looking, light blue long snake, with darker blue perpendicular stripes running along her body. She seemed pretty much harmless, although care must be taken overall with snakes… thankfully Trackhead was basically immune to any kind of bite or venom… talking about the robopone, as he stopped he looked down towards the silly animal, that just stared at him in a confused way, hissing lightly with her forked tongue as if inspecting what was that giant red creature.
“Awww, aren’t you the cutest thing” Trackhead’s robotic voice came to life as he closed the distance a bit between him and the organic creature, who instead of backing away like most animals, the snek stayed on its ground, not surrendering in the face of the huge beast. “What kind of species are you?” The robopony said as he tried to search through his database of knowledge in order to figure out what this snek was, having never seen such a dark blue/light blue pattern before. While he was thinking about it and searching through the terabytes of data, the cute itty bitty snek had approached him and gave him a little silly lick with her forked tongue, which elicited a giggle from the robopony. He might’ve been robotic, but he still could feel physical touch, to not mention that the adorableness of the snake pony was charming to him.
He was going to go around the snake and leave her alone to do her business, but the snake got in front of his way again, and started to climb the tracks into his red body, using her long, scaley noodle-like shape to hang in Trackhead’s head, between the scary-looking axemane and the tankpony’s ear, to the surprise of the latter. It was adorable, and, considering the snek seemed sapient/sentient enough to recognize the danger posed by standing in front of Tracky while he was hauling the cab, and keep still on her position (Even coiling the ear for further grappling), the red and yellow pony didn’t mind the stowaway, deciding to continue his pace.
“So you want to come alongside me huh? Well, hope you have fun!” The robohoers said happily, looking at his new ‘passenger’. Funnily enough, after saying that, the snake seemed to make a little nod of her serpentine head when he mentioned coming alongside him, as Tracky’s engine roared back to life, starting motion on the tracks and roadwheels, slowly attaining the speed he had before meeting snek.
Art trade I made for Trackhead the robopone/Bugatti, he requested his OC in tank pony form hauling a wagon behind him in a dirt road and I hope I had provided that adorable picture <3
It was really fun drawing Trackhead in tank pone mode to be honest, for some reason it felt cathartic or delightful… Idk I guess I’ve drew tanks so much before that I’m acquainted of doing them, like getting back to my roots lol.
And now that I realize it, Trackhead looks like a macro pony, considering the wagon seems about the same size of him while in tankpony mode Xp. In any case I hope Bugatti likes this :D
(And the cockroach squish was a reference to Hal from Wall-E. For some reason I can’t stop thinking of that cute robot when drawing Trackhead in his tenk configuration xP)
