“Alright, Scootaloo. You’re just gonna be helping her with counting, timing, stuff like that. It is no big deal.” The young lady grumbled to herself as she walked down the high school’s soccer field, trying to ease her frazzled nerves. But after being asked by Rainbow Dash to help with her workouts, Scootaloo just couldn’t help herself.
On one hand, it’s been quite some time since she and Rainbow actually got to hang out with each other. Last time she had seen the former athlete, she wasn’t exactly in the best shape. So at the very least, Scootaloo wanted things to go well. But on the other hand, Scootaloo had formed a bad habit of losing her composure at the mere sight of any woman who wasn’t exactly in the best shape. That was especially the case with the likes of Rainbow Dash.
Despite this, Scootaloo marched on behind the bleachers where Rainbow said she’d be, determined to keep her head on straight. “Just don’t be weird, okay? Just dohh… my gosh…” Losing her train of thought, however, Scootaloo suddenly came to a screeching halt.
Greeting her on the other side of the bleachers was the immense backside of Rainbow Dash, bent over on all fours as she tried to pull off some light stretching. Groaning and shuffling awkwardly as her bulging body quaked from side to side, it seemed like her large limbs weren’t the only things that were being stretched out. Unbeknownst to the tremendous trainer, the fabric of her skin-tight leggings was beginning to strain so far over her massive butt, Scootaloo could almost see through it.
But Scootaloo knew better. She can already feel her face blushing, her eyes widening, and her heart racing. But still she knew she shouldn’t let herself have a freakout over something like this. Clapping her hands together, she took a deep and calming breath before finally saying something. “HEy, RaINbow!” Her voice cracked under the pressure.
“Huh?” Rainbow spoke up between her heavy breathing, hardly noticing how much of nervous wreck Scootaloo sounded. “That you, Scoot? Give me a sec, will ya?”
Scootaloo nodded, clearing her voice before answering back. “Uh, yeah! Sure!” As she stood by and waited, she watched almost hypnotically as Rainbow plopped onto her side and rolled on her back, practically leaving her whole belly exposed before quickly pulling her sweat-soaked top down. As she continued to breathe heavily, hoisting her massive body up into a seated position, Scootaloo snapped back into her senses. “Uh, d-do you need help?” She asked quickly, hoping not to seem too desperate.
“Nah,” Rainbow replied, trying to rock her body back and forth to help boost herself up. “Gotta get better at doing it my… myself!” With a hefty grunt, she pushed herself to the side, swinging her leg over until her foot was planted onto the ground. Setting her other foot down to keep her balance, she slowly and carefully rose back up. “Alright, I’m up!”
“Woah,” Scootaloo blushed before realizing how lame that must’ve sounded. “I- I mean, cool!” She crossed her arms and stood straight, trying to recover as smoothly as possible. Yet she couldn’t help but feel so small compared to how queen-sized Rainbow was. They were pretty much the same height, but it still felt so intimidating just to be near the larger girl. “So,” Scootaloo continued, “What are we doing first?”
Still catching her breath, Rainbow turned towards Scootaloo before glancing out towards the field. “What I’m gonna do is a few laps around the field to get warmed up,” she explained as she pointed around the perimeter, her winged arm wobbling along with her movement. “What you’re gonna do-” Looking back at Scootaloo, Rainbow immediately cut herself off as soon as saw that her younger trainer was not paying attention. She was too busy staring at Rainbow’s bust as it rose with each deep breath. Rolling her eyes, Rainbow simply called her out. “Scoot!”
“Yeah!?” Scootaloo yelped, looking up to see Rainbow’s frustrated face.
“You’re gonna help me time each lap,” Rainbow said, far more sternly this time around as she tugged up at her top. “Can you do that for me?”
“I will,” Scootaloo nodded again, still trying to brush off any further awkwardness. “I’ll do my breas- Best! I- I’ll do my best!” But failing once again to keep her cool, her red hot face fell into her hands, too ashamed to even look back up.
Rainbow simply stood by with her eyebrows raised, feeling like a whole minute had passed before she sighed deeply and finally spoke up. “Okay… Scoot?”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Scootaloo blurted out, face still a bright red. “I’ll be cool! I swear! I just…”
“Scootaloo!” Rainbow shouted over her. Not in anger or disappointment. But in trying to simply level with her. “Just… look,” she began, resting her hands on her hips. “I could’ve done this by myself. But honestly? I thought it’d be nice to have someone else around who can help keep me going. Cause really, I don’t wanna have to do this on my own. I actually wanted Coach Spitfire to help me out with this. She may not have a way with words most of the time, but she still knew how to push me physically. But now, she could barely even catch up with me anymore. I mean, obviously I know you’ve seen how big she’s been getting.”
“Yeah, that’s true,” Scootaloo quietly added, thinking of her experience on the soccer team. From the way Coach Spitfire seemed to have blown up in size and weight, it was clear to the team that she was in no shape to lead the team. She has since retired to her office while the new assistant coach has been filling in.
“Anyway, I just want… I just need support from people I can count on. And I need that every day if I can make it happen. Whether they’re joining me on my workout or just cheering me on. I have my friends and my parents for that, but they’re not always gonna be around to help. So, I’ll be trusting you with this sometimes,” Rainbow smiled for a moment before getting serious again. “But I gotta be real with you, I’d appreciate it if you’d stop getting all… you know… googly eyed whenever you look at me. I need you to take this sort of thing seriously. Please. As a friend?”
Scootaloo said nothing at first, unsure whether Rainbow had more to say or not. But as she looked up and the sincerity in Rainbow’s eyes, the sincerity of someone reaching out. Finally nodding, Scootaloo smiled back. “As a friend.”
“Awesome,” Rainbow smirked as she gave Scootaloo a friendly smack on her back. “Now, let’s do this!” The two of them walked over to the edge of the field, Rainbow stopping just at the field line while Scootaloo stood back and took her phone. “I’m ready when you are!” Rainbow declared, getting herself into position.
With her stopwatch app ready, Scootaloo sounded off. “And… go!”
And off Rainbow went, slow and lumbering at first before picking up on speed. It wasn’t long before she was running at a steady pace. Meanwhile continued to watch on admirably.
“You heard her, Scootaloo,” she said to herself. “Rainbow’s your friend, and she’s putting a lot of trust in you. Just stop being weird around her.” Her eyes continued to follow the hefty runner, even from all the way across the field where she could still see Rainbow’s whole body bounce and gyrate with sluggishly fast-paced movement. “Oh, this is gonna be tougher than I thought…”
