This is their idea for a next gen mane 6.
 
Their descriptions for the characters:  
Stardust Trailblazer: Earth pony, son of Twilight Sparkle (not a princess) & Flash Sentry. Has twin older sisters (a pegasi and unicorn) and he is an Earth pony due to genes on Flash’s side of the family. He becomes the first aerospace engineer of Equestria. A caring nerd like his mother though a bit more easygoing and bold like his father. Despite being an Earth pony, is also extensively knowledgable on magic. Apperance: he’s a mix of his parents, his coat color being a mix of the orange and purple while having his father’s hair with mother’s stripes and mother’s eyes. Cutie mark is a shooting star, with star being four sided diamond in shape though the star is shooting upward, being more remiscent of an object headed up to the stars.
 
Jupiter Apple: Unicorn, son of Applejack & Donut Joe. Has a specal affinity for Zap Apples and indeed horticulture of magical plants. A big strapping stallion like his father and maternal uncle. Kind, confident and a bit of a go-getter with a good head on his shoulders. Also, surprisingly suave with a country gentleman appeal in courting (better at it than either his parents). Looks like his father in size and mane color though with a more orangey coat, and his mom’s eyes and freckles. Cutie mark is a srange color apple (maybe blue) with a lightning bolt.
 
Aurora Mist: Pegasus, daughter of Rainbow Dash & Double Diamond. Modest and polite in her demeanor. While she is skilled in athletics, she prefers more studying meterological phenomena and thus that is her passion in the serene quietness. She is quite empathetic and places the needs of her friends before that of her own, but not unhealthily. Not really fond of conflict, but will go in for the sake of her loved ones and quite loyal. Can be a bit sassy and snarky at times though. Inherited her father’s white coat, but her mother’s prismatic mane color, albeit in softer colors. Cutie mark is two wavy “clouds”, one a wavy rainbow (red, yellow, blue) in the shape of aurora borealis and under is wavy mist.
 
Tough Diamond: Dragon/unicorn hybrid, daughter of Rarity & Spike. She has a horn and can case magic like her mother while having the durability of her dad. Unsurprisingly rowdy yet also unsurprisingly sophisticated and caring. She is quite knowledgable on jewelry and metal working. Can be a bit theatrical like her mother though in a sassy way like her dad. Very assertive and not take crud from anyone. Likes showing up snooty folk as they underesimate her. She looks like a dragon mixed with a pony, her parents’ colors mixed. Lacks wings, but has a couple spikes on her head like her dad does, though resemble more horns. Has a cutie mark of a diamond though one half is rough and sharp and the other polished and hexagonal.
 
Feather Shield: Pegasus, son of Fluttershy & Spearhead. Rather bombastic and outgoing compared to his mellow father and withdrawn mother. Charismatic and caring, if hot-headed at times. Grew up as a wild child before calming down a bit as an adult. He grows up to become a member of the guard though his knowledge of how his mother took care of animals has given him a surprisingly good knowledge on medicine, making hi the guard version of a combat medic. Also pretty easygoing, something he got from Uncle Zephyr. Does not like bullies and has inherited his mother’s stare. He is a big stallion like his dad; bigger than Stardust, but smaller than Jupiter. Probably inheited his mother’s pink hair and a mix of his parents’ coat. Probably has a shield with a cross made of abstract feathers.
 
Homity Pie: Earth pony, daughter of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich. Younger sister of Cheese Slice/Pie (though she is bigger than him, being almost as tall as her dad). She stands out a bit from her parents and older brother, being practical, down-to-earth and mild. She’s pretty balanced compared to her mother and her aunts’ distinct personalities across the spectrum. While not a party animal like them, she enjoys helping them alot and sees her duty in keeping them in line. Has a bit of a stern mom attitude, but is a bit sensitive to being called boring. and or grumpy. The best cook in the family and focuses on hearty and nurtrious meals. Is pretty unfazed by most things and despite her “normalness” compared to her folks and brother, she does have her own Homity sense and can mess with thing (she is a good straight mare in terms of comedy and can do cartoony things that undoes other cartoony things as a result, being the counterweight.) Resembles Pinkie with straight hair, albeit with her dad’s coloration, but toned down. Has her mother’s eyes. Cutie mark is a whole homity pie (a type of cheese, leek and potato pie).
