Original Description:
“Ugh, come on! It’s not like I’m gaining weight anymore.” Rainbow Dash huffed and puffed under her breath as she tugged down on her top, trying to stop her oversized breasts from peeking out below. But it was no use. Despite having finally peaked in her weight, a 1285-pound body was still a lot to contain. “Whatever,” she shrugged. “Maybe I still have time to make myself a little decent before she gets here.”
\
Knock, knock, knock!
\
“Coming!” The over-enthused voice of her mother suddenly echoed through the hallway, followed by the rush of footsteps across the tiled floor.
\
Though Rainbow tried to get her mother’s attention as she passed by the living room, desperately waving her hands around as her flabby arms wobbled pathetically, it was too late. “Oh, no,” she gulped, bracing for inevitable shame as she heard the front door open.
\
“Hey, there,” a familiar rasp boastfully greeted. “I’m Coach Spitfire from Canterlot High School. Rainbow Dash asked me to stop by. I’m guessing you’re her… sister?” She asked rather coyly, though Rainbow knew it was all for show. The coach did have a tendency to switch from a kind-hearted friend to a hot-tempered brute.
\
“Sister? Ha ha! No, no,” Rainbow’s mom simply laughed obnoxiously. “But I appreciate the thought. I’m her mother, actually. Windy Whistles! Please, come on in! Dashie’s been looking forward to seeing you.”
\
“Ugh, please don’t call me Dashie,” Rainbow begged under her breath.
\
“Right this way,” Windy said as the sound of the door closing can be heard. “She’s just in the living room, not that she has much of a choice these days.” Though her parents always tried to put a positive spin to their daughter’s weight, Rainbow still felt a bit patronized.
\
As her mother walked into the living room, Spitfire followed close behind, eyes widening slightly when she finally got a load of the former athlete. “Yeah, I figured as much,” she smirked.
\
“Eh-heh. Hey, coach,” Rainbow smiled and waved awkwardly.
\
It’s been quite a while since they’ve last seen each other. Over a year since they shared passing glances, let alone actually speaking to each other. By that point, Rainbow was already over 600 pounds and well past her prime before even graduating. And while Spitfire was in far better shape, nearing 250 pounds with a prominent gut wasn’t exactly something she was gloating about.
\
A lot has obviously changed since then, as they each had practically doubled in mass during the past year. Despite wearing the same style of uniform from the day they first met, Spitfire no longer carried the same physique she prided herself in. Instead, she had ballooned to over 400 pounds, going from pot-bellied and chubby to a top-heavy fattie.
\
While Rainbow stared at her former coach with raised eyebrows, a part of her knew not to seem so complacent. At almost 1,300 pounds, she was completely bedridden. It took surprisingly long for her to lose her ability to stand, even after she couldn’t lift her fat-laden legs enough to waddle. But by the time her weight gain had reached its limit, her massive body had already given into its lack of mobility.
\
“I’ll let you two catch up,” Windy chimed before turning towards Spitfire. “Would you like anything? Water? Tea?”
\
“Thank you. But I just had coffee,” Spitfire nodded politely.
\
Windy then turned to her daughter, blissfully unaware of how much she was embarrassing her. “And how about you? Anything for our big champ?”
\
Forcing herself to smile and stopping her eyes from rolling back, Rainbow nodded as well. “I’m good, Mom. Thanks.”
\
“Alright, just holler if you two need anything,” Windy replied before finally leaving the room. Now left alone with uncomfortable silence between them, Spitfire’s smile quickly dropped to a stoic resting face as she looked down at her phone and paced around the room.
\
Meanwhile, Rainbow tried desperately to think of an ice-breaker. “So, uh…” But what could she say to someone who she hadn’t seen in so long? “Been hitting the gym lately?” She raised and flexed her own fleshy arms, hoping to get some kind of fitness conversation started.
\
Spitfire simply shrugged back. “Whenever I can. Just been busy lately.” Putting her phone away, she then took a quick glance at Rainbow’s massively blob-like figure before looking her straight in the eye. “I’d ask you the same thing, but I think I already know the answer,” the coach added with a condescendingly frank tone.
\
“Right.” With a sharp pain piercing through her soul, Rainbow’s smile faded as her arms dropped back down. But still wishing to keep the conversation moving, she persisted. “And… what about the soccer team this year?”
\
“Pretty good season, actually,” Spitfire began to explain as a slight smirk started to form. “Team was in way better shape than last year, and maybe even the year before that. Helps that everyone on the team was actually under 200 pounds this time.”
\
“Oh, that’s… that’s cool.” Feeling another disheartening pain, though not as sharp, Rainbow carried on. “Guess they lowered the weight limit, huh?”
\
“Actually, they raised it. Now it’s 450 pounds. Kinda funny since most of the students haven’t been dealing with any weight problems at all lately,” Spitfire chuckled. “But at least I get to stick around.”
\
“Yeah, as long as you don’t gain any more weight.” Rainbow laughed along until she saw the look on the coach’s face. As her smile disappeared again, Spitfire quickly looked away with a sharp inhale. “Sorry, I didn’t mean…”
\
“Nah, it’s fine,” Spitfire sighed. “I should be used to the extra weight by now. But then, I’ll find out that I gained another five or ten pounds, and then I’ll start feeling like crap again. But now that I see how you’ve been holding up, I’m not the one who should be complaining.”
\
“Yeah, about that…” Rainbow began reluctantly, trying not to meet her gaze.
\
“You want me to get you back into shape.”
\
Rainbow looked back at her. “Uh, yeah. Can you?”
\
“I can. But I’m afraid I won’t.”
\
“What? Why not?”
\
“Look, Rainbow Dash. You were probably the hardest working player I’ve ever had the honor of coaching. Despite all the limitations holding you back, all the odds stacked against you, you always find a way to push yourself harder. You’ve proven yourself to be just as good, if not better than the rest. Heck, you’d probably make an academy record if you ever go to Cloudsdale.”
\
“But?”
\
“But… I mean, look at us,” Spitfire scoffed. “I’m already out of shape as it is. But you, you’re as big as a freaking whale! Seriously, can you even sit up on your own, or did you need help with that?” Rainbow didn’t answer that. She just looked away while Spitfire continued. “Besides, I got summer school to teach, vacation plans to make. So if you’re expecting me to drop everything and perform a miracle for you, especially at your size…”
\
“Wait,” Rainbow interrupted. “So if I lose enough weight to get back on my feet, then would you help me?”
\
“That’s not what I’m saying,” Spitfire corrected.
\
“That’s not what you’re not saying,” Rainbow rebutted. “Come on. You gave me a chance before. How is this any different? Just cause I’m a lot fatter?”
\
“That. And also…” Spitfire paused for a moment, trying to find the right way to explain herself. “Time’s changed. It’s just not the same, you know.”
\
Seeing as it’s becoming a lost cause, Rainbow shrugged. Not angry. But still disappointed. “Fine,” she sighed. “I was hoping someone who was willing to bend the rules for me would be willing to help me out again. I should’ve figured you stopped caring. Just didn’t think you’d gone soft on me.”
\
“Hey, wait a minute…” Spitfire tried to retort before Rainbow cut her off.
\
“No, forget it. If you won’t help me out, then like, whatever. I’ll find another way. I got friends and family who can give me all the help I need, anyway. I don’t even care about getting back to my original size or weight or anything like that. I just wanna get back out there and play whatever I want. Do whatever I want. Go wherever I want. And I’m not gonna let some setback stop me from doing that.”
\
“Too stubborn to quit, I see,” Spitfire said before taking in a deep, contemplative breath. “If you’re as good at exercising as you are at guilt-tripping, then you better drop a few hundred pounds next time you wanna meet. Cause I ain’t going easy on you. Got it?”
\
Rainbow grinned. “Deal.”
