Description from deviantart:
I took what I thought was the cutest thing I drew in in my scrapbook and revamped it. And while I was drawing this, I thought up a concept behind it!
So Twilight was right. How didn’t she figure it out sooner? All that time, “Cadance” was acting fowl and rude to her little ponies, but she brushed it off as stress about the upcoming ceremony. Now she knew the error of her ways, and she silently swore to make up for it double.
“Right you are, Princess,” The queen said. “And as queen of the changelings, it is up to me to find food for my subjects. Equestria has more love than any place I’ve ever encountered. My fellow changelings will be able to devour so much of it that we will gain more power than we have ever dreamed of!”
Careful, Celestia. Watch her. Find an opening, she thought to herself. She scowled as the changeling continued to gloat, this time about her nephew-in-law being completely under her control. You haven’t won quite yet, Changeling Queen.
“Soon, my changeling army will break through. First, we take Canterlot. And then, all of Equestria!”
That’s it! It’s time to show her what’s what. She slowly charged her horn for the perfect opportunity.
“No. You won’t. You may have made it impossible for Shining Armor to perform his spell, but now that you have so foolishly revealed your true self, I CAN PROTECT MY SUBJECTS FROM YOU!”
With all the speed of lightning, Celestia bolted into the air, and released a single shining beam of pure golden light. Chrysalis countered, and they fought energies. Slowly, the queen’s beam got closer and closer.
Celestia Gasped.
However, the changeling energy never reached her. All it took was one different thought. One single idea. One action. One spoken sentence.
“NO, I have already failed my faithful student once, I will never fall short again!”
Celestia’s golden beam split into eight sections at the converging point, curving around to cut off the source. Chrysalis was smashed into the floor, pain erupting through her horn. She lay there for a minute as Celestia landed next to her. Celestia examined Chrysalis’ horn before applying a bandage. She sat down and spoke quietly like a disappointed parent to her child.
“Changeling queen, what’s your name?”
“…Chrysalis…”
“Chrysalis, you said Equestria has more love than any other place you’ve encountered, is that correct?”
“…Yes.”
Celestia frowned. Then she smirked. Then she laughed.
“What’s so funny?!” Chrysalis was suddenly swept up in the forelegs of the solar princess, white wings gently wrapping around her frame.
“A land brimming with love, and you didn’t think at all that its people would share that love with you without use of force? Chrysalis, what do you feel right now?”
Looking around, Chrysalis saw her changelings on the other side of the shield, looking back at her intently. And the ponies? Well a couple were giggling at the spectacle, some were confused, and a yellow pegasus pony and a pink earth pony were “awww”ing at the scene. The biggest problem was that they were all staring at her.
Chrysalis blushed profusely, and silently looked up, trying to ignore them.
Wow. That took longer than I expected. Anyway, comments, as always, are appreciated.
