A colored pencil piece I’ve been working on on and off for the last couple of weeks - a humanized portrait of Rarity.
 
Ten years ago, at Anime Expo 2011, a cosplayer stopped by my table in the Artist Alley. This lady wore a white dress and a purple wig. The feature that got my attention, however, was the single white horn emerging from her wig. When I asked who she was dressed up as, she replied “Rarity from My Little Pony.”
 
I did not know it then, but that my first exposure to MLP:FiM. On top of that, Rarity would end up becoming one of my favorite characters.
 
I, sadly, did not get a photograph of the cosplayer, and I only have a vague recollection of her appearance. So, to reminisce on that chance encounter, reflect on ten years as a brony, and how it influenced my creativity for the better, I decided to do this piece.
