Open Book is a pony character I used in a Tales of Equestria game I played around this time last year with the cool dudes at MLPG. With the GM’s permission, I got to play as a secret changeling, so I came up with this cute librarian pony as the disguise for my changeling OC, Synthesis
 
As Open Book, she comes off as a socially awkward pony, well-read in pony history (ancient wars, specifically) and very straight-to-the-point. To help sell her awkwardness, she carries around a book that’s all about making friends and socializing. When night fell on the island chain, she would prowl the streets wearing another stranger’s face for a disguise and drain an unlucky citizen, typically a stallion. Let’s just say she got extremely lucky during the game, because she was never directly witnessed nor caught draining ponies during her nightly ventures, despite the islands being rather well populated seriously, god rolls; passed like 18 separate checks using an online dice roller. On top of that, she was able to be deceitful during a certain encounter and mess with a “crime scene”; in doing so, she was able to trick her party into thinking that she was innocent… but that’s not to say she was all bad and evil. She was actually very helpful to the crew during the quest, since her freedom from the region depended upon not getting caught. She used her wit to help the party find a way out of the stormy seas they were stranded in. Then, at the very end of the adventure, the employer who sent the party out on the adventure became paranoid from hearing that there was a changeling attack on the islands, so she used a moderately powerful spell to try to reveal any changelings in the party. Miraculously, Open Book didn’t burst into green flames and reveal her buggy inner self during the tense confrontation. Instead, she received a hefty bag of Bits and a glowing recommendation! Her secret identity remains intact… though the other players are sure to be wary of seeing Open Book show up anywhere in the future, kek
 
Thought I’d share a summary of her story just to give you some context, otherwise she just looks like your run of the mill cute little pony. My good friend Cosmo did a bunch of art of various moments that happened during the adventure. MightyShockwave also did a cool group pic, which shows a brief flash of Synthesis’ eyes.
