Twilight had a very big interest in Dreary, she showed great signs of magic without having wings or a horn… Dreary ran away to be with her love instead, she wasn’t going to be some little science experiment for her mother to play with, she was going to be her own person
LSD (yes, that is Light’s nickname) HATES Twilight with a burning passion. She found out something vial she did and has held it against her, her whole life. She wants to expose this fake princess of friendship for who she is one day, she cannot get away with what she did
Hypnos is quite stuck up and entitled, all his life he was spoiled for being crowned the prince of the night. Ponies do not treat him like the servants or other royals did, they treat him like a normal pony and he hates it. Celestia, Luna, and Cadence taught the ponies to not treat royalty as all seeing all knowing gods, just like normal ponies, because they can come from anywhere.
Sunspot is Hypnos’ twin and always right there beside him, his much more upbeat and he does manage to cheer Hyp up some times.
