started to rise. Now that I am awake I might aswell get up. I am still waiting on the
inventory for my kitchen so for breakfast I need to go out to the bakery. Shugarcube
Corner I recall.
I quickly brush my mane and tie it up in a bun as I do every day and give my legs a
quick stretch and my jaw a wide yawn. Once I am more awake I throw my saddle bag over
my shoulder and pack away my bag of bits inside.
I take another look around my appartment. It’s nothing special. A bedroom, a tiny
bathroom and a little kitchen with a table companied by two fragile looking chairs. For
now it is more than enough. I smile a little. So far it hasn’t quite settled in that
this is my new home.
Finally I turn to leave and as my hoove touches the door handle it suddenly springs
open and a pink pony blastst out the doorframe. Standong on her two back hooves and her
front ones wide outstretched she calls “WELCOME PARTY!!” and balloons and streamers
seem to pop into the air from nowhere.
After the inital shock finally lifts I laugh “I’ve been warned about you! Your name
is Pinkie Pie I bet?”. She nodds vigorously “Yep! And your name iiiiiiiiis…?”. I
smile and hold my hoove up for a shake “It’s Dewspring. But you can call me Dew.”.
Instead of shaking my hoof she goes all in for a tight squeeze “It is SO nice to meet
you, Dew!! We will become the best of friends!”.
I smile and - out of breath due to her choking hug - I explain “This is more of less
the reason I am here.”. She lets go and holds me at arms length and with a deep gasp
she looks at me in pure and utter excitement: “You came to Ponyville to be MY best
friend??”. She turns around “DID YOU ALL HEAR THAT!!” and now I notice that half the
town seems to be piled up in the entrance of my appartment. “Not quite…” I
interrupted her but she goes brabbling on about how excited she is about her BIGGEST
fan coming to Ponyville.
For now I just leave her with that thought. I ought to correct that sooner or later
unless she forgets about my little blunder in wording. Which I highly doubt.
She suddenly pushes me through the crowd, down the stairs and out onto the street
where there is a whole array of cakes and baked goods. “I didn’t know what cake you
like!” she explained “So I made ALL the cakes!!”. This indeed is the grandest amount of
different cakes I have seen in my entire life.
I’m shaking my head “You really didn’t have to! I cannot afford all of this…” I
started to get nervous. “Silly!” she chuckled “My parties are FREE!” and proceeds to
hug me once more “It’s all for my NEW BEST FRIEND!”.
After some back and forth about me feeling bad for her spending all this money she
finally convinces me to go for the cake and that seemed to be the call for everyone to
grab something. I ate two pieces of carrot cake - my favorite and defenitely the best I
have eaten so far - and a piece of chocolate cake which was suprisingly filled with
strawberry jam. And of course a pink muffin with rainbow sprinkles which Pinkie Pie
promoted as the best one of the bunch.
My first day at Ponyville has come and it started with a bang. Quite literally. But
this would not be the only surprising and memorable pony I would be destined to meet
today…
