Description

Halfway to Canterlot, the wanderer was caught in the storm. The sky was darkened by weather patrol clouds. F fresh, ozone-and moisture-laden wind picked up and whirled blades of grass and debris from the ground.

The traveler got off the road and began to quickly unfold the tent. He did not want to get wet in the rain at all. But the wind tore out a light synthetic awning and quickly carried somewhere along the road. Cursing, the wanderer dropped his pack and ran after the departing tent.

The tent was pinned to the ground by someone’s telekinetic field, which flickered strangely and scattered crackling sparks.

A little way off the road, a tall cherry mare with an unusual horn of blue crystal appeared. The wanderer thanked her and offered to divide the tent for this bad weather, since it all happened. Pony, tenaciously looking around weird counter, agreed. But ask him to unload his crossbow before he reaches into his handkerchief.

However, no matter how trying the traveler and one unicorn to quickly deploy a thin lightweight awning, the rain soaked them pretty badly. Finally, sheltered from the gushing water from the sky, the strange creature and the unicorn began to try to settle in the tent. Neither the wanderer’s crossbow and knapsack nor the armor under the pony’s cloak helped.

They waited bad weather in silence, sitting in an embrace. Then they gathered up the tent and set out together, still in silence.

The traveler had a good look at the unexpected companion. Lean, wiry, moving with the ease and fluidity of a predator. The scars and the crystal prosthetic horn spoke of the pony’s turbulent past. The stranger did not seek to question his companion, nor did she take much interest in him.

For several days the traveller and the pony rode together, exchanging only the necessary phrases and helping as needed. However, no one felt any tension and discomfort.

Until one day they stopped for the night on the day of the Starfall. Equestrian star showers are a fascinating sight. When hundreds and thousands of rapid silvery strokes run across the black velvet of the night sky, the air seems to be filled with the finest melody. Unearthly, barely audible and forcing to respond the most secret strings of the soul.

The wanderer and the unicorn did not pitch their tent that night. Because it was so warm that you could sleep right on the grass.

Lying on her back, watching the rain of stars play their magic music, pony finally spoke not on the subject of travel troubles. Unicorn decided to ask the identity of the companion.

The wanderer, enchanted by the silver web of starfall, for the first time did not remain silent and withdraw from the subject. Throwing his hands under his head, he briefly told pony his story. Who he was, where he came from, what he left behind. For the first time in his stay in Equestria, the stranger felt that this could be said. For he felt that this pony would not be frightened or recoiled.

The unicorn listened intently. When her companion had finished, she told her story with a “Frankness for frankness.” Because she felt that he would accept her, whatever she was. She told him about her old grief, her wanderings, her betrayal and forgiveness. At the last words, her hoof involuntarily jerked toward the prosthesis.

The wanderer listened without interrupting. When pony was done, he gently held out his hand to her. The unicorn, grinning, allowed him to pat on the top of her head and moved closer. Resting her head on her companion’s chest, pony smiled for the first time in days, feeling him scratch her behind the ears.

After the pony and the stranger from afar walked together for a couple of days. Finally, at one of the crossroads, they said goodbye and headed in different directions.

What was tempest’s surprise when a postal Pegasus caught up with her near the village where she wanted to replenish supplies. the stallion handed her a bundle of thick brown paper, accepted the painting, and flew away.

The package contained a portrait that vividly recalled the night of the Starfall.
