Crescent: ….
Fancy: Sweetie? [Notices her head bobbing and smiles] Sweetie, did you doze off again?
Crescent: [Head snaps up] Huh! N-no, of course not! [wipes drool from chin]
Fancy: [Chuckles] Whatever you say, sweet heart.
Crescent: What were you saying before?
Fancy: I was asking why you were so excited yesterday. We don’t often see you so chipper after class. Did something good happen?
Crescent: [slight blush] W-well, I was hanging out with somepony… a stallion.
Fancy: [Flinch] A stallion you say?
Crescent: Dad, don’t get all puritanical on me. We discussed this, didn’t we? I’m old enough to hang out with stallions.
Fancy: And yet you can’t brush your own mane?
Crescent: [pout] It’s not like I can’t! It’s just… I like it when you do it. It feels nice to have you watch over me like this.
Fancy: [dad smile] You are buttering me but I’ll let it slide just this once.
Crescent: How magnanimous of you, father-dearest. Speaking of moods, you and Auntie seemed pretty upset yesterday. Did something happen?
Fancy: [Freeze] …Sweetie, what do you know about your mother?
Crescent: [Frowns] My mother?
Fancy: The one who gave birth to you. That one?
Crescent: [Scowls] Oh, her… I never met her. I know she ditched me and left me my one gift from her. [presses hoof to the scar on her neck] Why do ask?
Fancy: [Looks over to the drawer where a letter resided. Within was a note from Crescents mother.] Would you ever want to… meet her?
Crescent: Tartarus no! She made her feelings about me abundantly clear when she dumped me on the streets and tried to kill me! I don’t ever want or need to see her!
Fancy: [Flinches] I-I see… [Thinks to himself but is torn]
Crescent: [Sees her dads ears droop and sighs] Besides, I don’t need to go anywhere see my mom. My mom is right downstairs, burning pancakes with my Aunt and brother. [She nuzzles her father] I have me dad right here, so I don’t need to go looking from some other ‘family’.
Fancy: you know you’ll always be my little lemon pie, right?
Crescent: [blushes] D-dad, don’t call me that! I’m not a filly anymore!
