Star Twist tilted her head in confusion.
Twilight grinned. “Princess Celestia just sent me a letter saying she needs some help with the Summer Sun Celebration!”
“Summer Sun Celebration? W-why can’t you just do that?!” The young mare raised a hoof.
“Because, silly Star! You still haven’t done any princess duties, so what better way to start off with organizing where things should go! You get to decide where the seats, tables, flowers… Basically everything goes!” She smiled wide.
Tempest nudged Star Twist. “Hey, this is pretty important. You might wanna consider doing it”
Star Twist sighed. “Fine”
“What’s that?” Twilight leaned closer to her daughter.
“YES! I’ll do it! Better?”
Twilight smiled. “Better”
After about 15 minutes of walking, Star Twist arrived at the building she was supposed to sign some papers in. She was told that in some of the papers she needed to do more than just sign, but suggest some things that would look good in the Summer Sun Celebration. This would take a few hours, but after that she could go home.
Star Twist knocked on the door. Before her stood a tall, white mare with the most magical flowing hair she’s ever seen.
“Hello there, dear! Please, come in”
Of course, Star Twist had met Princess Celestia before. She had seen her when she’d become a princess, though they never really got to talk to each other. The only thing Celestia said was “You’re a princess now, congratulations!”
Star Twist walked in and looked around. The place was very, and I mean VERY bright.
“E-eh… It’s kinda bright in here, princess” She said, putting a hoof over her eyes.
“I get that a lot. Here’s some sunglasses for you to wear” Celestia turned over to a little box which seemed to have at least seven pairs of sunglasses in it, and possibly other things too. Using her horn, she handed it over to Star Twist.
Star Twist put them on. “That’s better!” she smiled.
“Oh, and one more thing” the princess dug into the box with the sunglasses. Out came a red tie. “Here. I want you to wear this, it makes you look more professional when ponies walk in” she gave the tie to Star and then put one on herself.
“….Thanks” The unicorn said. “So, where am I supposed to go?”
“Upstairs. There will be some ponies up there too. If they aren’t wearing a tie they’re probably not working here and just visiting, got it?”
“Why would you need to tell me that?”
“So you don’t get them confused. If you need to know something a pony who’s not working here might not know the answer. For example, where the bathrooms are. If you need to, I can get one of my guards to show you around!”
“No no, it’s alright” Star Twist spotted a staircase and trotted up it. There it was, so many ponies, desks, and papers all around. She saw a desk that had her name around it on the floor. She didn’t know how they did that every year with different ponies, but Celestia was pretty rich, so that was probably the reason.
Star Twist sat down. She looked at all of the papers. It was time to get to work.
After signing a few things and thinking of new ideas, Star eventually got bored. She could tell some of the other ponies felt the same way. She didn’t know why Twilight said it was a “Princess Duty”, yet all of the other ponies weren’t princesses. It probably had something to do with the “Everypony Matters!” thing.
Star Twist started thinking. Thinking about things that she could be doing, instead of this. Like getting ice cream, or doing magic, or coming up with spells! All of them made her smile. She didn’t know how long she was doing this for, but eventually she snapped out of it.
It took her a while. Longer than expected, but she did finish doing all the paperwork. Little did she know, she still needed to do things tomorrow. Like decorate and set up the tables, etc. Of course, not all of her ideas would be included, but it still helped. Maybe next year more of her ideas would be. She was just happy to start trotting home.
