Hey, DeviantArt! It’s been a while since I’ve submitted something here, but with the premiere of Season 8 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic upon us, I wanted to celebrate by trying my hoof at some episode-themed comics! My goal is to try and submit one comic for each single episode and two-parter in season 8 as it comes out. I have not been paying attention to any leaks or anything like that, so I’m excited to see what the new season will bring as it comes out, and reacting to new events as they unfold. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep this up throughout the entire season, but if I could submit art for 30 days straight in the Artist Training Grounds, I should be able to handle this.
This week’s comic is based on the two-part season premiere, School Daze. This was a very unique premiere for the show; instead of fighting some dangerous villain for most of the episode, it mostly just focused on establishing this new school concept and introducing us to the new students. It did have a sort-of villain in the form of the EEA’s Chancellor Neighsay, however, and as someone who is currently working on getting their Bachelor of Innovation in college (yes, that’s a real thing, and it is amazing), and has had an… interesting history regarding school and education, the idea of a bad guy being a strict schoolboard enforcing tight restrictions on how and even who one can teach resonated with me on a very personal level. I am interested in seeing where they plan on going with this school and this character.
The comic is pretty simple to start out, just a basic Maurice Lamarche joke (I always find it cool what kind of voice talents manage to make their way into the show). Mostly I’m just trying to get back into the groove of drawing ponies again. Hope you enjoy regardless, and hopefully I can come up with some good material for future comics.

Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Chancellor Neighsay, and My Little Pony belong to Hasbro and DHX. Pinky and the Brain belong to Warner Bros.
