Unicorns are medium sized, comparing to medium sized dogs. They have medium sized necks. They have more curved, sultry eyes. They have thin but silky fur. Their manes are often curled and styled around their horns, encompassing gems and jewels into it. Their tales are worn in the fashion of traditional unicorns, and both sexes wear make up. A popular look is the “blush” effect, where a unicorn puts make up the color of their eyes on their cheeks.They are the most illusive race. Many earth ponies and pegasi don’t even believe they really exist. But they do. They live in the Frozen North, or at least, the thought to be frozen North. Many moons ago when the earth ponies claimed reign over Terra, the unicorns returned to their original home, and realized that all the land once occupied by the other two races were now abandoned. And without hate to feed off of the windigos had vanished. They used their spells to rid the land of snow, and put a magical mirage to make the North appear still Frozen to the other races. This land is still called the Frozen North by the other races, but the unicorns know it as Unicornia. Though it is now free of snow, it is still a very barren and rocky land. The unicorns cannot grow crops, and they cannot risk being caught by the earth ponies whilst raiding them. Thus, they are carnivores. They hunt rabbits, mice, wolves, moose, birds… anything they can get their hooves on that isn’t sentient. Fishing is very important in Unicornia, as they have lakes teeming with fish. Fish is subsequently the most common staple there.Unicornia is ruled by King Shining Armor and Queen Cadence. Cadence has rumors surrounding her name, some say she used to be a Pegasus, some an earth pony, some say a different race altogether. They are expecting. They have provinces instead of villages or flocks. The capital province is known as Crystalia, and is the home of both Princess Twilight Sparkle and famous fashion designer Rarity Crystalline. Each province has it’s own Official, except for Crystalia however, because that’s where the actual government is. For entertainment, they have polite gatherings, much unlike those uncouth Earth Ponies. They create art, such as fashion, paintings, music, hair styling, spa treatment, make up, and architecture. Reading outside of letters, poems, and legal documents is forbidden. This is because reading encourages the use of dark magic. They speak Equestrian as a first language and most unicorns speak Yak as a second. Trading with Yaks is a common occurrence. When a unicorn is 3 moons old, they can fluently speak Equestrian. At 4, they begin their education. They learn fishing, trading, hunting, mining, fashion design, painting, music, hair styling, spa treatment, make up, basic math, and architecture. They continue their studies until they earn their cutie mark, at age 6 or 7. They then continue their education in the aforementioned category that matches with it. If a unicorn’s cutie mark doesn’t appear by age 10, or if it has anything to do with reading, they are banished from Unicornia. Their horn is snapped off, and they cursed to never return. Tales of wandering unicorns haunt the earth pony villages nearest to the Frozen North.Twilight always loved reading. She read every royal document she could get her little hooves on. She knew it was forbidden, but… it couldn’t really be that bad! …right? She was 6 moons old when she earned her cutie mark. It was the worst day of her life. She had found an abandoned library, it was amazing! She spent the whole day reading. She found a spell book, and started casting her first ever book-learned spell. But then, there was a rainbow flash in the sky, and she lost control. She can’t remember much, but when she awoke the castle was half destroyed. Since then, her family has kept an extremely close eye on her. The unicorn citizens ridicule her family for not banishing her, and she is known by most as the Witchcraft Princess. However, somehow she still finds a way to slip out at night and read in the old, abandoned library. When she was little, she rescued an abandoned baby dragon from the foot of the mountains. His name is Spike and he is her loyal assistant and friend. She has been betrothed to Sir Blueblood, but she finds him pompous and boring. Lately, she’s actually been meeting up with someunicorn named Fizzlepop Berrytwist. Twilight’s fascinated by her broken horn, and has promised her that she’ll find a way to fix it, through reading! Fizzle isn’t quite sure, but she appreciates Twi’s kindness. Twilight is good friends with Rarity and has been since the fashionista was but a lowly scullery maid.Rarity Crystalline is the epitome of glamour. Unicorns from all over the kingdom line up to wear her fashion. She earned her mark at just age 5, on the same day as Twi, when she split open a rock to find it was a mighty geode. Despite this, she started out living in a comically small crystal shack on the edge of Crystalia, as the castle’s lowly scullery maid. However, after a lot of good curtain designs, luck, hard work, and good words on her behalf, (courtesy of her friend Twilight) she was introduced to the fashion world by the Queen Cadence herself. She is now one of the most popular designers in all of Unicornia, and she and her family live in a big crystalline home right next to the castle. Sweetie belle has not yet earned her cutie mark, but she isn’t yet 10 moons, so she’s okay… for now. Rarity is 15, Twilight is 16, and Sweetie belle is 5.
