After she was signed into a contract with Sapphire Shores, and her career began to take off, the two decided that Ruby Dust’s hair needed to be spiced up, like how Vinyl Scratch’s hair was vibrant and electric. The deciding design was the vibrant red with two colored spikes in it. It was also decided last minute that she would wear red contact lenses, as her magenta eyes didn’t match enough with her new hair color
