In the world of constantly making up game mechanics on the fly, it’s nice to be able to find a way to add a natural timer/rising-tension mechanic to a situation, even a mundane one.

So I actually livestreamed a Phoenix Wright game the other night, and had a law student shouting in the chat about all the ways it has nothing to do with this country’s legal system (and the handful of horrifying ways where it’s spot-on). It was great.

Applejack: Congrats, Rainbow. Ya solved the mystery. Ah didn’t write so well and Ah accident’ly made my family worry. Ah feel bad. Now can we please get back to work?
Rainbow Dash: …Dang it. I thought I was onto something good there.
Rarity: I think what Rainbow and Twilight were trying to say was… Your letter lacked ANY details. Where you’d be, what you were doing, how long… Did you even know at the time of writing? Or was there cause for a significant change of plans?
Applejack: Well… Uh… I mean, yeah, Ah had most of it figured out. More or less. The important bits, anyway.
DM: Unconsciously, Applejack starts trotting faster. The treadmill speeds up, and the cherry sorting gets harder. <roll> You do pretty well despite that.
Fluttershy: Um… Is that going to happen every time we get closer to the truth…?
Pinkie Pie: We’ll be fine! My Dex is- Oh.
