It had been a very long time since Twilight had visited her friends from Canterlot High. It was great talking to Sunset via the magic books the two of them had, but there never was a substitute for spending time with your friends in person. Twilight went to the library and saw the machine she made was still functional. She started it up, and it worked just as well as it did the day she first made it.
 
“We’re gonna have so much catching up to do.” she said to herself. And that was the truth. In fact, since she last saw her human friends, she’d gotten married and was now expecting her first foal. She then stepped up to and through the portal. Just like always she came out the other end as a human, and she was on two legs. Just as she expected, all her friends were there to greet her.
 
“Twilight!” they all said in unison.  
Twilight smiled. “I’m back.”  
Each of them came up and gave her a hug. Pinkie was careful this time since Twilight was going to have a baby very soon.  
“We have so much catching up to do!” Rarity said.  
“Fer starters,” said Applejack, “have y’all been feelin’ alright carryin’ yer first?”  
Twilight nodded. “Yeah I’ve been doing alright.”  
“So who’s the lucky daddy?” Rarity said.  
Twilight smiled, blushed, then whispered in Rarity’s ear.  
“Flash Sentry? I knew you two were perfect for each other. Congratulations!”
 
The friends continued to chat away until Rarity changed the subject.
 
“Darling. You know it’s summer, don’t you?” she asked.  
Twilight slowly nodded. “Yeah.”  
“You shouldn’t be wearing those shoes during summer. You’re legs are going to sweat like there’s no tomorrow. Let’s go to the mall and find you a new pair.” she said.  
“Oh Rarity. You don’t have to do that you know.” Twilight said.  
“No no no. I insist. Consider it a gift.”
 
So Rarity took her shopping at the mall. Most important of course was that the shoes went with the rest of her clothing. They went to the shoe store, and searched for just the right pair.
 
As they searched, Twilight asked Rarity something she’d been thinking about. “Shouldn’t we find something to cover my belly?”  
Rarity smiled and shook her head. “That won’t be necessary, Twilight. Showing your baby bump is becoming a trend as of late.”  
“Oh…okay.” Twilight said before continuing to search.
 
Finally they found a pair of shoes that was purple and black with laces. “Perfect!” said Rarity.  
They arrived back at Rarity’s home where all their friends got together to hang out. Rarity was the one who put the shoes on Twilight, and tied them. Twilight couldn’t exactly reach down to her feet with her big belly in the way.
 
“Y’all were certainly gone fer a long time.” AJ commented.  
“I’ll say. I was beginning to think you guys were NEVER going to come back.” Rainbow added.  
“Good fashion choices aren’t made in a matter of seconds, you two.” said Rarity. Nobody argued with that considering Rarity was the expert on fashion among them.
 
Once Rarity finished tying the shoes, she helped Twilight up from the couch.  
“Ooh! Is it always that hard for human girls to get up when they’re pregnant?” Twilight asked.  
“It does become a bit more…difficult as they get further along and the baby grows.” Rarity answered.
 
Twilight went over to the mirror, and admired her new shoes. Her shirt was a bit tight, and it only went down to just above her belly button. Her bow was still there, and her skirt wrapped around her hips just beneath her underbelly. She looked at the shoes and turned back and forth, seeing all sides of them. “Wow, Rarity! You’ve done it again.”  
“Always happy to help.” Rarity smiled with pride.  
“You look great, Twilight.” said Sunset. She gave a thumbs up and a wink.  
Twilight fiddled with her hair. “I hope Flash likes them.”
