I’m surprised I didn’t think to publish something like this earlier. Something where I throw a ton of different expression types at my model’s facial rig to see how well it works. And so far, it seems pretty good! But that’s just my opinion. If you think something somewhere looks a bit off, let me know! Try to be specific, though. Saying “This one looks weird” with nothing else tends to not be very helpful, as I can’t make any conclusions on what I can do to fix or improve these expressions based on that kind of feedback. I tend to not care how harsh feedback is, as long as the feedback is descriptive enough for me to understand what and why you think something looks off. |
But yeah, regardless of that, this was quite a feat to come to. This is the result of almost a year long detour of the main objective of this project to really, really tackle the many problems the old rig had. Spent a lot of time re-educating myself, asking for help from other artists, and implementing tons of new features into the rig to allow for these types of expressions to happen just by manipulating the facial rig. All of these poses can and will work in animation. I feel like I’m almost pretty much where I need to be at this point. If anyone has any good feedback on a few of these faces, I’ll definitely try to improve and fix parts of the rig a bit more to make those changes, but otherwise, this is the facial rig in its final form. |
