Page 646 - The Dream Job, Part 7Any stories about playing both hero and villain at the same time? And not necessarily from the DM’s point of view?
Transcript:
Nightmare Rarity: Let’s see, let me count the ways I have the advantage this time. I’ve taken one of your Elements, you’re on my home turf, where I have whole legions to back me up… just for starters.
Rainbow Dash: So you really ARE playing both of your characters today! Just hog all the XP, why don’t you?
Nightmare Rarity: Doesn’t really count if one of them has become the main villain, does it?
Twilight Sparkle: I’m lost. Why is Rarity suddenly bad now?
Nightmare Rarity: <sigh> For starters, you’re not actually talking to your friend. She’s in here, dreaming of riches and vengeance, but for now, I’m the one in control. And she’s a willing host, I might add. All it took was the prospect of endless loot; the spoils of war. I suppose that’s the problem with befriending Rogues. They’re too good at backstabbing.
Shadowfright: Ha! Nice one, boss.
Applejack: Sure, but this is Rarity. It’s never that simple with her.
Pinkie Pie: More importantly, there’s no way you could effectively play both PCs against each other in combat! It’s like when your character gets Dominated but you still get to choose which power you use! You’ll always pick the weakest one, even if that’s not what the character would do! If you make Luna and Rarity fight, you’ll just sabotage yourself every turn because you want only one to win!
DM: A-he-he-hem.
Pinkie Pie: …Unless the DM controls her in combat…
Spike: Enough of this! I’ve taken on Diamond Dogs to save Rarity! This’ll be cake!
Jerome: Sure, bud.
Spike: Yeah, bring it on! Uh… Okay, didn’t take the flying thing into account…
Jerome: Maybe next time, kid.
Spike: AAAAHHHHHH!
Twilight Sparkle: A for effort…
DM: Now, roll for Initiative!
