After weeks of mindlessly wandering through Equestria, going from town to town where news about her had already spread, being chased away or harassed by their citizens, she finally reached a place where she may be able to call a safe haven for the time being. Manehattan. A city too large to have large swaths of ponies identify her and form into a mob. Over the next two months, she performed her acts of magic alongside doing a few odd jobs around the metropolitan capital to make herself a reasonable living, and one of those odd jobs gave her the opportunity of a lifetime.
While doing a short contract job at a shipping warehouse, an odd group of stallions came in to do a little business. These were no ordinary citizens, but members of the Bright Brothers’ Mafia, the largest organized crime syndicates in all of eastern Equestria, when she heard word that they could help make ponies ‘disappear’, she offered a possible job for them to do, one that would help her get revenge. Unfortunately, when she mentioned who she wanted claimed, they gave her a price that was well beyond what she could afford. But, they were gentlecolts who were willing to make deals and arrangements for wonderful looking mares. They accepted the job, but on one condition: She would have to serve as a ‘Special” waitress at their pub operation on the west side for an undisclosed period of time. More than willing to make the exchange, she shook hands with them, striking the deal.
What she did not expect though, was that ‘Special’ waitress meant working happy hour in a Playcolt Bunny outfit, her face incredibly red the first few days on the job. But she knew that the work in the end would pay off, and it did. About two weeks of working, the same ponies she met before approached her, and told her that they were satisfied with her work so far and considered her loyal to her side of the bargain. They said they were ready to commence the extraction plan, having been watching a certain tree library for the last week or so, gathering information. Tonight would be the night Trixie would get her prize.
Meanwhile, a certain studious mare was asleep in her bed, snoring lightly after going the last 36 hours on a study binge. With her dragon assistant away in Canterlot on business, Twilight Sparkle figured she’d get in as much reading as she could while having so few disruptions. Little did she know that somepony was watching from outside of her window. The masked pegasus pushed open the window, wincing as the hinge squeaked, causing the sleeping unicorn to stir and slowly awake, but before she could even sit up, the swift-winged colt flew over with a rag in his hand. He quickly shoved her down onto the bed and forced the rag to her muzzle. The contents in the rag acted quickly, knocking her out in a matter of minutes. Not long after, he placed the purple pony on his back and walked out of the room, through the front exit of the library, and into the veil of the night. All the while, another mare entered the library and closed the door. An actress hired by the Bright Brothers to take the roll as the lavender bookworm, making sure it would be a good while until anypony would notice the real Twilight was long gone.
