Orange Blossom wasn’t going to make it easy. The morning after she found her long estranged father interacting with her family, she adorned her work bandana, left Manehattan, and went to work in her orange orchard on the outskirts of the city. It’d been a long time since she got her hooves dirty and the rest of the work ponies were surprised to see her.

She fumed as she worked. Angry at her father and very angry at her husband. He knew the pain she’d gone through and yet there he was treating Grand Pear like a beloved member of the family. Letting their daughters weave flowers into his mane and tail.

So when she saw the two of them coming after her, she stormed away. Neither of their voices pleading for her to stop reached her ears. She wouldn’t stop, she wouldn’t listen to whatever rehearsed apology both of them had. No crocodile tears could sway her.

But one thing did make her pause. A warm presence directly in front of her; planted there like a stubborn tree. Orange Blossom couldn’t see anypony and yet something stood in her way.

Then a familiar voice, “Listen.”

“Why should I?” she growled as hot tears built in her eyes. “It’s been decades. Decades since he’s spoken to me or sought me out. Why should I listen to anything that old fool has to say?”

“Because I never got the chance. It’s too late for me. Not for you.”

“He doesn’t deserve the luxury of closure!”

“So you’ll rob yourself of it, too?”

Orange Blossom cast a hateful glare at the stallions behind her. Both of them would face her wrath, she’d give it to them, she’d scream until all of Manehattan could hear her.

“Please, sister. Listen.”

Only for Pear Butter. She’d only listen for the sake of her late sister. Then she’d say goodbye to the creature she once called father.
