This takes place right after Aurora’s 17th birthday. As her birthday with she was turned into an alicorn, her mother Sombra and father Speed Wing decided to wait until Aurora could decide if she wanted to be an alicorn or not. As you can see she said yes. Aurora may be the princess of magic but learning to fly? She was horrible at it. Midnight couldn’t teach her (not that Midnight ever used her own wings to fly, she just floated everywhere)  
The only pony that could even get her in the air was Rainbow Blossom. But even her teaching had Aurora crashing to the ground. Once she crashed in the royal garden right in front of her mother.
