This is so OOC it’s not even funny.
Not even angering, it’s just that… ever had that feeling when something is bad yet you can’t be arsed to do something because that would give it relevance, and you are like “the Hell this shit will get my nerves”, so you don’t do anything? Yeah, that.
I was thinking that perhaps Twilight is still set in stone and she must overcome her own self-doubt and worries. Perhaps she doesn’t trust herself and her decisions or that her fear of rejection, as in this very scenario, must first be overcome in order to set herself free of her own person prison. We all know how much she reveres Princess Celestia, so perhaps Twilight fears the possibility of such an event occurring when she would be forced to defy her old-mentor in order to be truly to her new friends. A case of new relationships destroying old relationship and the choice of whether to go forward or simply turn back to what is familiar and safe.
The princesses’ characterization is just bait from the author at this point. Them being this evil is too blatant. I’m betting this is some test for Twilight or something.
