Don’t forget TS’s immortality (what degree of such it may be). That’s a pretty big factor. Makes me wonder how SG could have been a more popular choice.

In my opinion, Rarity has one of the most “normal” lives. She works hard, meets deadlines, stresses, scouts out locations, signs deals and has to manage employees and resources… that’s sounds too much like “normal” human life.
SG: Powerful magic and time travel, plus villainess at times. Mwahahaha
TS: Powerful magic and a powerful ruler… at times. Sweet.
RD: Flying and doing a sonic rainboom. Cool!
PP: Weird Pinkie logic bending time and space in Pinkie ways. Nice… and confusing.
Fs: Talking to animals… cool. Manipulating Discord? Hmm? The possibilities.
R: Work? Aww… What do you mean, you need 500 exact copies of this very dress by tomorrow?! This isn’t fun anymore!
AJ: …more work? And honest?! I wanna be a villain or something!
I just wanted to look up those Newbie Artist Training Ground prompts, so I search EQD and… just loads and loads of articles, imagines and comments loading as I scroll down.
I don’t like seeing Starlight included with the mane 6. Not the worst thing in the world, one poll result.

Well, from my experience with fan fiction. They endorsement used to matter a lot but now I often see stuff getting featured there not gaining any other traction at all and it’s been that way for awhile. Though I would think it varies from subject to subject on how much wait they still pull as I know that Flimflamefilosphy said that the YT algorithm had treated his channel liked dirt and they was still a noticeable rise when Equestria Daily would feature his stuff, and that was after I had already noticed a significant decline for fanfiction being featured there (but even that was still like 2017). It was really only in 2011 and 2012 when I even used it to look for fics myself as I migrated to searching for my tastes on Fimfiction itself.
As for how much they represent the fandom. That is a bit of a tougher question but I would argue against them being the standard bearer for the average MLP fan in 2021. I think a lot of the sites cultures do overlap way more then people like to admit, though they still represent separate poles in the fandom. They are the “social media” side of the fandom and often used as the public face but I think they lack a lot of core fandom members* who are most active within the fandom fully fit the bill. A lot of articles outside of major news and daily discussions don’t even get comments now.
*I mean this in the way that someone who is very plugged into fandom websites and communities. Not that every person who likes Starlight Glimmer is a poser fake hashill drone.
Poor Applejack. But why is Rarity so low on the list? Successful in an industry she loves, loaded, famous, and popular? Most people want to be her in their idle daydreams.
@Adan Druego
Never been there either. Nothing I heard about the place made it sound good. The weird restrictions on stories, the power tripping mods, the generally hostile community. Why would anyone bother with that when they had other options?
Polls like this make me wonder how much they represent the fandom, or how much they represent the kind of fan that frequents the place they host. I stopped going to EQD years ago, and even before then I mostly visited for site news and to find fan-made media, I had no interest in interacting with anyone there.
Twilight got boring.
How so?

Sounds hylic, but okay.

Hasbro shills like EQD don’t represent me at all, even less their users.
Same goes with Derpi.

I, personally, have never used Equestria Daily for anything. In fact, I don’t even know how to use the site itself.
I think these polls only represent the people who use which ever site host them and nothing more.
Yeah. Kind of what I was thinking. As I recall, Starlight formed her own little troupe.
That said, I understand the results.
