“OW!”
 
“Well if you would hold still, it would be done faster!”
 
Sunburst groaned as his mom kept raking his mane back for the seventeenth time. “I don’t want to be bald before I reach puberty!”
 
“Don’t be so dramatic, Sunburst sweetie.” Stellar Flare shook her head. “Honestly, you and your sister I swear…” she began to fixate on her own mane.
 
Sunburst sat, and asked, “Why are we going through with the picture anyway? Sunset’s not here, and she….made it super clear she didn’t want to be.”
 
“Oh Sunset’s just going through a rough patch, you know,” his mom brushed it off, like she normally did when Sunburst mentioned his older sister. “Working under a princess has to be difficult.”
 
“Is that why she always seems so angry?”
 
Stellar stopped, seeming to be suddenly infatuated with the hairbrush in her magic grip, wrinkling her brow.
 
Sunburst nudged her side with a hoof, wondering maybe if his mom forgot his question.
 
“I have an idea,” the older pony finally said, setting the brush down. She turned to her youngest, with a not very reassuring smile as she was hoping, “let’s take the best picture together of you and me. With big happy smiles. Maybe it’ll give Sunset something to be happy about.”
 
Sunburst wasn’t sure how that’d help. In fact, he had a feeling that wasn’t a good idea at all.
 
But when his mom had an idea, it was kind of pointless to try to change her mind.
 
“…okay.”
 

 
An arc I’m eager to go through. One of my favorite parts of making comics for my SparkleBurstDoodles was the headcanons for Sunburst and his family and its gonna be great to get back to that part!
