An open-world, nonlinear role play game, you’re both right.
And yes, that’d be awesome with the scope and budget of Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto with huge open world map containing all our favorite locations, inhabited by all our favorite characters, with quests that fit into the story and world of the show.

There’s plenty of room for that sort of thing in a 2D adventure game. Like Zelda 2 or this one.
But, wouldn’t it be nice to have an MLP game that allows you to move freely anywhere you want and the entire world of Equestria basically the size of Skyrim or Breath of the Wild?
Just think about that for a second. You could go anywhere you want and complete side quests and tasks given throughout the game and you could use the train as a fast travel mechanic. With an open world MLP game you could probably even discover new places that were never seen in the show.

I think a 2D platform/adventure game would be a good fit.
I don’t think there’s that many licensed MLP RPGs. Nor have I seen that many fan projects, for that matter.
RPG games are already WAY too common in MLP. I want an MLP game where we can move freely around the environment giving us even more exploration of the world of Equestria.

Not a life simulation game like the one from GameLoft. I mean a fully made 3D licensed MLP game. Similar to Battle For Bikini Bottom. Am I the only one who wants this to become a thing?
