It’s not because of the pony. It simply doesn’t have those things which create the tone of existential despair in the original. Especially the lack of eyes. And the lack of water. And the lack of compression artefacts. Also the bright colours on the planets.
Overall, it’s just a much cleaner image than the original.
I looked up “lack” in a dictionary because using it so much, I was starting to doubt it was a real word.
