Edit: Okay now that I finished it…I can finally talk about this piece, and how proud of it I am! So first, the story:
 
It follows the same path as the original: Luna feels neglected, unloved. The ponies of Equestria sleep through her night, her work is thankless, she’s hurting. This time, Celestia listens, she watches…
 
And she becomes enraged.
 
How dare they not love her sister like she does! How DARE they let her glittering, glorious night go without adoration! She comes colder, more hostile to her subjects, she begins to rule with an iron hoove…
 
And her sister is only happy to help, so appreciative of how much her sister cares.
 
Queen Celestia rules her sweltering days working her ponies into the ground, exhausting them to the point where they can not escape…
 
Queen Luna’s chilling, smothering night. Legend says she started replacing her stars with eyes, ever watchful over the ponies as they sleep, plaguing those who speak lowly of her loving, caring sister with nightmares.
 
And so the cycle continues. They run from the cold, fearful night into the heat and light of day.
 

 
About the designs: I did take inspiration from Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker, both with the touches of make up and the more full body armor, and I went with the color palette of both for the armour, however being that those are their evil forms, I decided to spike up their typical armour touches as well, giving a more harsh appearance, while not straying too far from their normal designs and into their already evil territories (like keeping Celestia’s gems purple and Luna’s moons white, along with keeping eye shape/color and mane effect)
 
Also, stained glass is a reoccuring theme in the show for story telling, so I thought it only appropriate to have pieces to tell Celestia’s and Luna’s stories. (Sorry Celestia, I had to rush yours, I’ll try to fix it later OTL)
