Like most mothers, Fluttershy had the naive idea that her daughter would hatch as this small, gurgling filly with big innocent eyes who would squirm into her arms before burrowing down for a peaceful nap.
 
Discord knew better. Draconequus babies are born with a personality, and their hatching depends on that personality.
 
For Harmony, that entailed her egg exploding into pieces and miniature fireworks going off everywhere, while she stood confidently on two hooves, her arms raised proudly in the air as she screeched, “ Cheep Cheep!” ( “Ta-da”) But when her parents where no where to be found and the living room was starting to catch fire from the fireworks, Harmony’s cries turned into tears at the lack of an audience.
 
Once Fluttershy returned home from grocery shopping, she was dumbfounded to find a soggy, screaming foal-looking-thing in the middle of the fiery inferno that used to be her parlor. She soon found her voice to call Discord and they both rushed to rescue their new foal and whatever was left of the furniture.
 
But don’t worry, once they got Harmony to calm down, they got the sweet family moment they had been looking forward too. Even if their baby smelled like ash.
 
Ah, parenting.
