Nickname(s): Cameo, CC, Bitsy Species/Gender: Earth Pony/Male Mark/Talent: Three honeybees; a queen, a drone and a worker. Represents his talent for beekeeping and making honey-based products. Personality: Soft and gentle, due to often being overshadowed by his twin’s rasher personality. Strong, in terms of having a moral code he refuses to waver from, and the strength to stand up for what he believes in. Important relationships:
Apple Bloom (Mother) - He’s definently a mama’s colt; they often make jams and such together, and he likes to help her in setting up the Crusaders day-camp.
Pipsqueak (Father) - They get along very well. His father’s personality is a lot softer compared to Apple Bloom’s, so Cameo often goes to him for emotional support and advice.
Maria Ann Smith (Twin Sister) - They seem very opposite, with Cameo acting as a softer counterpart to his sister’s brash nature. They fight sometimes, but they always make up and they both have each other’s back at a moments notice.
Snails (Inofficial teacher) - Sure, he talks a bit slow, but Cameo loves to spend time with the stallion; he knows so many cool and interesting fact about bugs! He gave Cameo his first ant-farm when he was little, and he was the one who taught him how to raise honeybees.
History:
After dating for a few years, Apple Bloom and Pipsqueak were considering getting married and prepare to start a family sometime in the nebulous future. But then a whoops happened, and they had few months to scamble together everything they would need to raise a foal, not to mention the mental preparations necessary. But then another whoops happened, as it turned out they had one to few of everything and the foal was foals. Pipsqueak spent the first few days of being a father getting another set of everything they had spend months preparing before. How did the hospital miss it during checkups? Well, they were performed by the same doctor who previously didn’t recognize a dragon, so that may have something to do with it. He was fired after a visit from very upset aunt “saved-equestria-element-of-harmony-best-buds-with-princesses-etc” Applejack.
When Cameo was born, he actually spent a while without a name; they immedietly knew what to name his twin sister, but they had a hard time finding a name that fit Cameo. Eventually they had to pick something to write on the birth cerificate, and just went with Cameo Cultivar because it was an alliteration.
Cameo actually got his cutie mark very early; something his twin sister is terribly jealous of. He’d often spend time with Snails, who taught him about snails and insects and how to take care of them. Then, when some of the farm’s honeybees started swarming, Cameo was the one who noticed first, and got them to settle into one of the other empty beehives before anyone else even knew about it. He then took care of these bees by himself, and as the next zap apple season came, it was his honey used in the batch. His mark didn’t come in a big flashy moment of triumph, but rather him one day realising that he’s been taking care of these bees for a while, and he didn’t think he’d want to stop anytime soon -and there it was. He’d probably would have even missed it appearing if it didn’t flash and draw his attention.
He currently lives on Sweet Apple Acres, and spend his days in school and a lot of his free time either taking care of his bees, helping out around the farm or cooking and baking. He doesn’t have many friends, but he has his twin, who, despite teasing him a lot, is actually quite good company in building tree-houses, going on adventures into white-tail woods or stealing cookies together.
Trivia:
He is 2 minutes younger than his sister (something she never lets him forget), which is why his parents nickname for him is “Bitsy”, while his sister is “Itsy”.
When he grows up he’s going to change his name to “Honeycrisp” to better match his talent. (My headcanon why ponies’ names seem to match their talent)
While his talent is bee-keeping, he is quite good with other insects as well. He can sort of understand how they “think” and knows how to communicate with them (to the extent that is possible).
During zap apple season, he is responsible for making the bees happy to make honey that is sweet enough for the jam. Everyone tells him that the jam has never tasted as good as when he’s the one geting the honey, but he’s pretty sure they’re exaggerating.
