She was always so nice to him, always invited him to eat with her, gave him things to help with his work, and listened with genuine interest to anything he had to say.
But Basher didn’t have much to say. Not to her, not to anypony. He found it impossible to open up. He was quiet, he shut ponies out. Yet she was always patient with him.
When Lena finally got up the nerve to officially ask him out… he refused, convinced that she pitied him, or was somehow deluded that he was somepony else. He felt worthless, small, and inadequate. She deserved better.
“No…!” was her stubborn response, frustrated tears pricking the corner of her eyes. “I see something in you that nopony else sees, not even you…! A pony that is kind and caring and warm and wonderful… you just never let him out! You’re a great pony, Basher, I know you are!!! Don’t ever think otherwise…!
A-after all… I wouldn’t fall in love with just anyone…
Can’t you just trust me…?”
…
Well, the rest, they say, is history~
Smol idea and pic I’ve had for a while that I never posted
