Twist tapped her fingers apprehensively against her phone as she wiggled her toes through the straps of her wedge sandals. She knew deep down she would need to make a call eventually, after all, she promised she would give her loving mother a call the moment she arrived just as she finished packing! Sighing deeply and finishing with a gulp, Twist tapped into her phone and silently prayed she could continue to procrastinate putting off talking to anyone in her current predicament.
After all, she was a big filly now! Practically a lady! She was the first in her family to go to College after all-
Twist bit her lip, whimpering softly as her phone continued to ring. Enough of College, focus on the now! Focus on getting out of her current predicament, focus on-
“Oh hello, Sweetie! Don’t tell me you’ve already entered Manehatten! It feels like you just left!” her mother replied from the other end.
“H-hi Mommy!” Twist almost choked in response, suddenly regretting ever fiddling with the phone to begin with. “H-how are you?”
“Why, a little lonely in here, one less Filly in the house can leave quite a draft, so to speak.” Her mother replied with a chirp in her tone. “Oh, I can’t even express how proud of you I am! The doctors said you wouldn’t even make it through Grade School and here you are! On College campus! The first in our family! You sure showed those nerds the one-two punch!” Twist could practically see Trissie punching the air through the phone. “So… how does the Campus look-?”
“Uh… a-about tha-”
“-Meet any new friends so far-?”
“W-well, you see-”
“-And how did ol’ Frank make the trip? He’s a clunker but he got me through thick and thin when I was your age!” Trissie laughed. “Unless, unless he did give you a few troubles on the way-”
“-M-maybe-”
“Oh, don’t tell me he broke down on the highway-”
“NOPE!!” Twist recoiled in terror, not intending to shout. “I-I MEAN… no… no I’m on campus right now! It’s quite busy here and Frank sure sticks out like a sore thumb! But that just means it’ll be easier to spot him in the carpark!”
“That’s the spirit, Sweetie! I knew ol’ Frankie would grow on you!”
“Peeling paint and faded wood paneling and all!” Twist chuckled haphazardly. “Well… I-I just wanted to give you a call. I-I’m going to find my dorm now… I just wanted to give you a heads up, thats all!”
“Oh, no problem! It’s always nice to hear you call! No matter how old or how much you accomplish, you will always be my little baby! Take care now, I love you honey!”
“I-I love you too, Mommy!” Twist bit her lip, quivering as the other line went dead. Suddenly, a shiver ran up her spine as a sharp object poked the bottom of her wedged sandal. Digging her toes in but afraid to move to erratically, Twist peered over the side to find whatever creature decided to nibble on her shoe-
-Only to find a ravenous duck, that quacked innocently as it swam past the partially submerged station wagon.
“Oh dear… I’m not even a quarter of the way to College, hay, I’m not even sure I’m outside Ponyville limits!” Twist whimpered burying her face in her hands. “I just HAD to take the scenic route over the ford crossing, didn’t I!?” To be fair, Frank has endured worse over his 45 years of life as a Station Wagon. Twist just couldn’t believe Frankie could be defeated by a foot of water.
She didn’t blame the old engine for stalling, she blamed herself. Twist whimpered sadly, how could she be so stupid? How could the only College-Potential filly in the family drive the antique station wagon into a river with a completely accessible bridge nearby, and a bridge that was most likely host to dozens of passing motorists who probably gave a quick glance to another car claimed by the ford crossing.
All because the stupid little filly wanted to avoid traffic.
Twist doubted anypony who gave a glance at her predicament had seen anything so embarrassing at that junction, well, not since Pinkie Pie thought she could glide over the water in her Pinto if she drove fast enough-
Twist suddenly went rigid as her ears twitched, picking up the unmistakable sound of a police siren heading her way. She silently prayed to Faust Almighty that it was just passing by on the distant bridge on it’s way to another emergency, but judging by the sound of pebbles being kicked across the road as the sound of an engine growling to a halt, it was right behind her. Twist breathed deeply, unsure of who was going to waltz right on up to inquire why she was sitting on the roof of a stalled station wagon sitting in just a foot of water. Twist turned to face the inaccessible road ahead, trying to focus on what excuse she would have for the Stallion that would now have to call in a tow-truck and haul her pasty-white rump to safety.
Twist’s ears twitched once more as a kickstand dug into the grass and heavy boots stomped her way, breaching the waterline with powerful strides. The Earth-Pony gulped, unsure how this burly brute was going to respond to the sight of a pony incapable of getting her clothes wet.
“Oh, I know how this looks!” Twist called out pitifully to the police officer. “I thought this old beater could make it through thick and thin! I must look so pitiful up here!”
“Naw, I tink yer’ kinda cute!” A very, VERY familiar voice responded with a chirpy yet heavily accented tone. “Dat blush really’ brings out yer eyes! And I wouldn’t say dis is yer most embarrassin’ situashun, remembuh prom?” Twist turned to face her savior, just as she caught non other then Babs Seed to pass her a playful wink.
“BABS SEED!!” Twist yelped in delight, her legs kicking out as she clapped in delight.
“like de unifawhm, Twist?” Babs Seed smirked, placing her hands on her hips as she posed to show off her muscular posture in her tight breaches, much to Twists mirth. “Figured I’d show yuh my new thread’s sometime into yer studies, but I’d nevuh thought I’d be rescuin’ your cute rump in unifawhm! ”
“You graduated from the police academy!” Twist chirped mirthfully. “And you already rescued your first damsel in distress!”
“Obviously!” Babs smirked. “Saw yuh from de highway and I coun’t just leave Ponyville’s cutest college student hangin’ high and dry!”
“And you became such a dashing Motorcycle Patrol Officer so QUICKLY…” Twist gasped, her eyes trailing to Babs breasts and down to her hips.”
“Shoot, Twist, you’re makin’ me blush! A cop like myself has got tuh look commandin’!”
“Cute and badass, just like the Babseed I knew from High School!” Twist giggled.
The two blinked as a bird chirped nearby. Moments passed before babs extended her muscular arms. “Well? Yuh wanna get tuh de othuh side or not?” Babs’ eyes went wide as Twist leaped into her arms, her inhibitions and anxieties melting away the moment she landed in the outstretched arms of the cutest, most badass patrol cop Ponyville and the rest of Equestria has on offer. “Shucks, Twist! Yuh could of leaped ovuh dis whole rivuh wit’ dat much pep in your step!”
“My knight in tight uniform is a great motivator!” Twist giggled, kicking her sandals up and down in delight. “So, you gonna bring me to the otherside like a proper Gentlemare?”
“Obviously, gonna need de room fawh de tow-truck!” Babs Seed chuckled, kicking off from the car and forcing her way through the shallow water. “But first, yuh have tuh make a deal wit’ me.”
“What kind of deal?”
“Yuh gotta keep me company while I write up de propuh papuh wawhk fawh dis scene. Ya’ dig? Den yuh can be on your way to Manehattan!”
“You have yourself a deal, Officer!” The two laughed in unison. As Twist nestled into Babs Seeds arms, the Earth Pony quickly forgot about her failure to cross the ford and the talk with her mother. In fact, it turned out be a great decision!
“But dat Stashun Wagon is gonna need a new Battery! Yuh take cash or credit?”
Twists eyes went wide, knowing all too well that her mother would notice her daughter buying a new battery for ol’ Frankie. Gulping, she held up a handful of plastic cards. “Will the tow truck driver and mechanics accept gift cards to Taco Waco?”
