Guest Author’s Note: “DMing is a difficult task with a lot of behind the scenes work to make sure everyone else has a good time. I don’t think a DM necessarily has to be totally on board with any player or player group’s plans or choices, but they have to be interested in the interactions. Sometimes, though, there are paths that the players choose to take that just…don’t click with the DM in some capacity.

Experienced DM’s, from my own history, know how to weather those choppy waters. Inexperienced DM’s can find themselves overboard and in over their head pretty fast. Which, in the worst case scenario, can lead to a spiral.

Sunset is…difficult to write. For a lot of different reasons.”

Twilight Sparkle: Well, it wasn’t. Plus, you heard them: they don’t want to do a heist.
MD: I was kind of hoping the importance of the crown would help you push them past that. Like how your group bent over backwards to help Rarity when she got blacklisted.
Twilight Sparkle: That’s not even remotely similar.
MD: Well, it seems that way from the story I heard. Whatever, it’s fine. I won’t push the heist. But I need something to make this more exciting and challenging than a popularity contest.
Twilight Sparkle: I think beating Sunset Shimmer will be exciting enough for your players.
MD: …You’re totally right! Let me go check some notes, and let’s make this finale exciting! Sorry for doubting you!
Twilight Sparkle: Well, that’s not worrying.
