Fremont Stained glass is one of the two remaining independent traditional stained glass makers still in the US. They’re located in Seattle, Washington and their glass is some of my favorite glass around. It’s all hand made, mouth blown in the traditional style. The glass used for Luna is what’s called “flash” glass, which means it has a layer of clear with a layer (or two) of color on top of that. This means you can remove the layer of color to produce different results. In this piece, the color in the mane and tail was sandblasted off in specific spots to create the stars. For Luna’s shoes, the color was only partially sandblasted, crating a lighter color with a different texture than the surrounding glass. Here is a video of Fremont glass being made: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_FyF0… (I love watching this!)
This piece looks far better in person than in photos. I tried my hardest but photographing her was near impossible and she still looks a little funny and washed out in the photos. Glass is so hard to photograph well.
This piece may be sold but I still have Twilight Sparkle for sale here. I also take commissions!
Also be sure to check out my other work, and if you’re interested, clockways and I have combined talents to make My Little Pony cutie mark necklaces & keychains! We still have some left over from Fiesta Equestria and are selling them here: clockways.tumblr.com/post/5522… We also do custom cutie mark necklaces/keychains, so if you have a cutiemark or would like to have one designed for you, let us know.
