Here’s another drawing of my favourite grandpa-grandson Griffon duo. The particular piece was inspired by a beautiful episode of The Looney Tunes Show entitled “Rebel Without A Glove”. In this episode, Bugs and Daffy’s interactions actually reminded me of Gallus and Grandpa Gruff (or rather some of the personality traits I’ve given them). I can definitely see Gallus going all “tough teenager” at some point and Grandpa Gruff trying to be reasonable with him and warning Gallus that he won’t find what he’s looking for on the streets, because he was once there.

I’m also trying to portray how I often see these two, a few bits of their personalities, and some of their feelings for each other through this piece. Gallus seems to be the sarcastic and teasing youngster Grandpa Gruff constantly has to deal with and keep under control, as well as the more carefree of the two, and Grandpa Gruff seems to be the more reasonable and strict one, as well as Gallus’ favourite victim for occasional pranks (possibly along with Sandbar). With that in mind, Gallus could probably be the one to calm Gruff down when he’s overthinking things and gets stressed, and Grandpa Gruff is most likely the one who gets Gallus out of trouble when he overdoes it with his pranking antics.

Now, regarding their outfits, you may have noticed that Gallus’ outfit is pretty similar to Bugs Bunny’s while Grandpa Gruff’s is significantly different from Daffy’s outfit. Well, that’s mostly because I don’t really draw ponies/Griffons with clothes (at least, clothes with long sleeves) and often give them accessories instead, and because I wanted to make their appearances more original. In this case, I’ve made their “identities” alike but with a few differences added. Gallus’ gilet and gloves are pretty similar to Bugs’, with a few differences in the stitches and holes, but I’ve also given him fluffier/ messier bangs and tail-tuft, along with a different (face-painted) ‘tattoo’ and some stripe markings, to indicate that he’s gone all “tough guy” (I was going to give his ears more fluff too, but I decided not to go that far). While he wears the vest of a biker, he actually rides a skateboard and not a motorbike. As for Grandpa Gruff, I’ve given him some basic accessories. Instead of wearing a jacket, a sweater, and glasses like Daffy did in the episode, I’ve given him a scarf, a watch, a pipe, and a monocle for his blind eye.

I also used a fanart for the TLTS show (drawn by Spootay) that gave me inspiration as a reference for the two characters’ poses.

Even though Gallus and Grandpa Gruff seem to be an odd duo that rarely gets along, I believe they compliment each other in some ways. Hope you like it! ^^
