It was a perfect night outside. Under the shade of the moon in a local field were Maverick and Ocean Soul. The held on to each other’s hooves as they stared at the skies, pointing at different stars, smiling with each other.
 
“That star right there…” Ocean Soul asked, pointing at one. “What is that one called?”
 
Maverick smiled. He loved to study the stars. “I believe it’s Deneb.” He smiled. “It’s over 2,000 light years away. The light that is just hitting us was visible over there around 2,000 years ago.”
 
“Such a long time…” Ocean Soul lamented before she looked at the moon. “And yet the moon shines as brightly tonight.”
 
“Indeed, but it is closer.” Maverick explained. “But the stars we see are much further away than our own sun.” His face then turned just a bit sad. Ocean Soul looked over at him.
 
“My love? IS something the matter?” She asked, concerned.
 
Maverick looked at Ocean Soul, placing a hoof on her cheek. He sighed. “The brightest and biggest star… the silver moonlight… none of it matters. None shine brightly as you do, my dear.”
 
Ocean Soul blushed hard for him. “You mean it?”
 
“With all of my heart.” Maverick smiled as the two looked up at the skies just in time to see a shooting star. Ocean Soul gasped as Maverick smiled more and more. “A shooting star!” He exclaimed. “Rumor has it if you make a wish upon a shooting star, it will come true.”
 
“Does it now?” Ocean Soul asked him, grinning and blushing.
 
“Indeed… what is you wish? Your desire?” Maverick asked her.
 
Ocean Soul giggled, placing her hooves around Maverick now, blushing brightly. “Bah, wishes? Who needs those? Everything that I could ever want and need… you already gave it to me.” Ocean grinned, now laying on top of him. “You gave me three beautiful foals, and even more, I met you. I would never trade anything like that ever.”
 
Maverick laughed for a moment, but Ocean Soul doubled down on her response to him, digging her hooves into his shoulders now as her wings spread, smooching him tenderly on the lips. Maverick could only smile back at her as Ocean Soul continued to smooch him, showing her love that she had for him.
 
“Mmmm… Mavie…” Ocean Soul groaned gently. “I love you more than the number of stars in the skies.”
 
“Ocean…” Maverick purred. “My love for you is brighter than the Sun and the moon…”
 
And so, under the silver moonlight the lovers continued to smooch and love each other, eventually retiring to embracing one another with Ocean’s wings around Maverick as they looked up at the skies once more, enjoying what they had. Even the furthest stars in the skies with their lights now hitting the land would pale in comparison to the length of the love that the two would have. Eventually, Ocean’s eyes grew heavy as she yawned, resting her head on Maverick’s chest as he held her tightly to him. staring up at the moon and stars just for a bit longer before he too would fall asleep under the moonlight… (c) Andrew Faehling https://www.deviantart.com/strike-of-the-ninja
