Original Description:
The natural next step from my G5-to-G1 designs: G4 to G1! Since these have been done to death and there are a few G1s considered “equivalents” (Applejack is literally in G1 as-is), I decided to take another route and use this design challenge to incorporate lesser-known G1 lines :)If you want to see another between-gens type of redesign, send in an ask! I might futz around with G2 next!Design notes and explanations under the cut:Pinkie Pie is a Sippin’ Soda pony! These are a late-gen 2-pony line and I think Pinkie would fit right in. In accordance with the line, she doesn’t have a tail bow. Sippin’ Soda ponies came with a lollipop hairbrush that I turned into a barette for her. She has 4 hair colors (was supposed to be 3, like the inspo line, but I goofed up!) and her symbol was reworked to resemble the line’s symbols, which were larger central images with little things around it (like sprinkles or in this case, confetti). The gods themselves moved my hands to make Fluttershy a flutter pony! Flutters have one solid hair color and a tail bow. The first flutter ponies all had flower symbols, so I added butterfly bush flowers for her butterflies to enjoy!Rainbow is a rainbow pony, felt like I couldn’t not make her one :P She has four hair colors as per the line. Her symbol is sparkly to match the other rainbow ponies, and I gave her a symbol redesign inspired by the rainbow pony Sunlight.Since Applejack exists in G1, I went a different route and made her like a sister or relative of the Apple Delight Family! She has the apples from the mother’s symbol and the dots from the father’s symbol. All of their eyes are purple/pink, so hers are too.Twilight is, of course, a Princess Pony :) She is specifically based off of the Year Six releases, which had tinsel forelocks and crown barettes (as well as the wands from the first princess ponies). Her symbol was redesigned in line with princess ponies’ metallic symbols, which had a main gem surrounded by smaller gems, all inlaid in a silver base.Rarity is a lesser-known line that combines 2 other lines - Princess Brush-n-Grow Ponies! She has tri-colored hair with purple tinsel, to match the original ponies. She also has the Princess BnG’s forehead gem, which is why I chose this line for her. Additionally, each symbol is two simple silhouettes with two-toned stripe patterns, so I followed that. I changed her symbol shape to more clearly be diamonds, since stripes on the original diamond shape made it harder to read. And that’s it! Thanks for reading if you made it this far :) <3
