You unfurl your new map on a nearby table, and as your party gathers around it, you ask Clear Fountain if she can tell you more about the island.
Clear Fountain: “I am by no means an expert, but I can try. What would you like to know about?”
You ask the unicorn what she can tell you about the cities of Midgard.
Clear Fountain: “Well, most cities that I know of have many things in common; a temple, a laboratory, some farmlands, and so forth. But each one also has something unique that sets it apart from the rest.
Astora, for example, is one of the island’s main sources of timber, while Brevica, to the north, is known for its hot springs rich in tin deposits.
Then, there is Elysia, the capital city of Midgard. It is by far the largest, most impressive city of them all. And the coldest, too! If you are planning a visit there, do pack some extra scarves.”
You thank her for the advice, and ask about the other points of interest.
Clear Fountain: “I believe those mark outposts where you can safely stay overnight. I do not know much about any of them, but from what I hear, they do sound like important locations to our researchers.”
Apple Basket: “So, uh, we didn’t see any harbours on our way here. How do y’all travel around here?”
Clear Fountain: “The best way to travel is by hoof, believe it or not. This map includes all the highways between each city; these are paved, and often used by patrols and caravans, so they are the safest place to be outside of our walls.
There are many more, smaller roads all over the place, but those usually lead to farmlands and other dead ends. Do try not to stray too far from any road, anyhow; dangerous beasts lurk in the wilderness, and I would much prefer if no ill befell you.”
You tell Clear Fountain that you will keep that in mind, and finally ask if she has heard of a place called the Yggdrasil tree.
Clear Fountain: “Hmm… that does ring a bell, but where have I heard the name before? It must have been from one of our scientists. A legend they were studying, perhaps. I am afraid that is all I can remember.”
Moonflower: “Oooh! Can we go talk to ’em?”
Clear Fountain: “Of course. You are sure to find scientists of all kinds at the laboratory, though I must warn you that some of them may have more difficulty trusting outsiders. Nothing personal, hm?”
