The Book Koala (Phascolarctos Scintilla) is an arboreal herbivorous equine native to Equestria. The Book Koala is found in inland areas of mainland Equestria, more specifically inside oak and crystal tree near the town of Ponyville. It is easily recognisable by its purple coat, dark blue mane and tail, as well as its close proximity to books of all kinds.
 
Book Koala is most active when it reads books, which happens all day long, but most intensely at night. Book Koala is asocial and spends just 15 minutes a day on social behaviours. Bonding typically only occurs between the individual and its vast collection of books.
